Procedure of ESI Registration
1. Log in to ESIC Portal
- Click on ‘Employer Login’
- Sign up and fill in the required details
2. Confirmation Email
- Receive a confirmation email with your username and password
3. Complete Employer Registration Form-1
- Log in again and select ‘New Employer Registration’
- Fill in the details about the unit, employer, establishment, and employees
4. Payment for Registration
- Submit Form-1 and pay the initial contribution online
5. Receive Registration Letter
- Get the Registration Letter (C-11) via email, including your 17-digit Registration Number
Documents Required for ESI Registration
For ESI Registration, the required documents are:
- Business Registration Proof (Certificate of Incorporation or Partnership Deed).
- Business Address Proof (Rent agreement + Utility bill).
- PAN Card of the business.
- Employee Details (List of employees, Aadhaar, and Bank details).
- Bank Account Details (Cancelled cheque or bank statement).
- Director/Signatory PAN & Aadhaar.
- Form 1 (ESI Registration Form).

After completing ESI registration, employers must follow these key compliances:
- Employee Attendance Register
Maintain a record of employee attendance as part of the mandatory ESI returns. - Wages Register
Keep wages register that includes details of employees’ salaries and wages, which must be filed along with the ESI returns. - Accidents Register
An accidents register should be maintained to record any workplace accidents, as per ESI requirements. - Form 6 Register
Maintain a Form 6 register containing details of all employees covered under the ESI scheme. - Monthly Contributions and Returns
